The activities of Les Dumas d'Amérique include:

The annual meeting

The annual meetings are a great opportunity for Dumases to meet and make new contacts, as well as to learn in an entertaining way. You don't need to be a member to participate to these meetings. However, only the members have the right to vote at the general assembly meetings which take place during this event.

The first meeting was held in 1992 on Orléans Island, near Québec City. The following meetings were held throughout Québec. The 2013 meeting took place in Lévis, just opposite the city of Québec on the Fleuve Saint-Laurent (St. Lawrence River) on September 14 and 15.

Don't miss this year's meeting in Lac-Mégantic on September 27 (2014)!

Publications

The Association publishes a quarterly journal which is sent to all active members. The printed version of the journal is in black and white. Members who prefer a colour version of the journal are sent a pdf version by email.

Sometime in the next few years, the Association plans to publish a dictionary of the Dumases in New France. Among our already published works is a book on the presence of Dumases in Canada based on the Canadian census data of 1851.

The memorial and commemorative plaques

A memorial in homage to François Dumas and Marguerite Foy was unveiled in the autumn of 1995. Commemorative plaques may eventually be made so as to emphasise the contribution of some Dumases.
