Our Ancestors Pierre and Gabrielle, Jean and Judith
Pierre Terrien and Gabrielle Mignot
It was April 5th, 1656 that Pierre signed a contract at La Rochelle in front of the Notary Moreau to work in Québec for a period of three years for a sum of sixty pounds (about $40.00) all expenses paid. At the end of his contract he decided to stay and established himself at l'Ile d'Orléans, QC., May 17, 1670 he married Gabrielle Mignot and they were blessed with 12 sons and 2 daughters.

In the year of the Lord sixteen hundred and sixty seven, January 27, after due notice in church for three Sundays, being the 9th the 16th and the 23rd of the said month, Jean Frémont, parish priest of Trois-Rivières, after having interviewed in church Jean Terrien of this parish, son of Jean Terrien and Marie Hélie, the said parents being from the St-Jacques parish of Dieppe, and Judith Rigault of the same parish, widow of François LeMaistre, of the same area, and having received their consent, they were married with the required ceremonies as witnessed by Maurice Poulain and Louis Godefroy dit de Normandville.
