Report on the annual meeting of Tessier families

held August 22, 2009

The annual meeting of the "Association des Familles Tessier" took place on August 22 in Valleyfield. This year, we celebrated the 10th anniversary of the association. Participation in the events scheduled varied, but overall, we believe the day was a success.

After lunch, the events started with the annual general meeting of the association. After presentation and approval of the financial report, elections were held for those members of the Board whose term was up for re-election. Our president, Denis Tessier was re-elected for two more years. Huguette Poirier was also re-elected as director for a two years term. As was the case last year, we were unable to fill the position of treasurer.Thus, the Board of Directors remains the same.

The meeting continued with a conference with the well known historian, Marcel Tessier. With his usual animated style, he spoke briefly of the ancestor, Urbain Tessier and how he left his mark on this area. He then entertained us for over an hour on the importance of knowing our history. "We have to know where we come from," he said, "to know where we are going". His time with us was well appreciated by all.

A spaghetti supper followed and the evening ended with a performance by the duo Dan and Lou.
