Proclamation of the coat of arms to the

Association of the Roy Families of America

It is with pride that we have accepted our coat of arms on October 12th, 1997 at the Village des Défricheurs organized by Mr Fabien Roy of Saint-Prosper, Beauce county, Québec during the annual assembly of the Association of the Roy Families of America. We would like to thank Mr Jean-Marie Roy for his successful project with the coat of Arms.

We have received our coat of Arms from The Saint-Laurent Herald, Mr Auguste Vachon. One of Mr Vachon's functions is to proclame and publicize a new concession of coat of Arms.

In the registered Patent letters, it is said that the Queen, as Queen of Canada, title conceeded to her since 1953, has delegated the rights to conceed Coats of Arms in Canada to the Governor General who has in turn delegated these powers to The Herald of Arms of Canada. This transfer of powers was done by Royal Proclamation on the fourth day of june 1988 allowing for the creation of THE CANADIAN HERALDIC AUTHORITY.

Next is the description of the Coat of Arms in heraldic language, and we cite :

"Blue crest on which is posted a 17th century french golden ship equipped with silver sails floating on silver and blue waters and on its superior part a man's hand and a woman's hand, all decorated by two golden stalks of wheat made up of fourty-two grains ; The shields is topped by a twist of blue and red ; and for headdress : A silver compass ; and for moto : Joy Friendship Respect."

Be proud to wear and show your Coat of Arms
