Plaque at Fumichon church, Normandy, France

History

This commemorative plaque placed near the baptismal font of the church in Fumichon, Normandy, France pays homage to our ancestor, Etienne Racine, who was born and lived in this community before emigrating in America and becoming one of the original settlers of New France.

In September 1989, 300 years after his death, the plaque was unveiled by Denis Racine, Association President, in the presence of the municipal authorities of Fumichon. Also present were the Racines residents of the local area, and a group of Racines from North America who were visiting their ancestral country.

The church in Fumichon, which is dedicated to St. Germain, was built in the XVIth century on foundations which go back to the XIIIth century.
