Memorial plaque and monument commemorating the 250th anniversary of our ancestor Alexandre Kerouac's arrival in New France.
History
On the occasion of the first Kirouac Family Reunion held on August 17, 1980, this plaque was unveiled in L’Islet-sur-Mer, Province of Québec, by Geneviève Kirouac, daughter of Jean-Guy Kirouac, then secretary of the Association. Etched on Laurentian pink granite, this memorial was later relocated at the historical site of “Le Berceau de Kamouraska”, our Ancestor's burial site. – Kamouraska County (Lower Saint Lawrence) – Province of Québec

Commemorative Plaque at the place of origin of the Kirouac ancestor
History
On July 9, 2000, Mr. Robert Cleuziou, Mayor of Huelgoat, Brittany, France, unveiled this commemorative plaque. Thirty-two members of the Kirouac Family Association were present for the event while on their first “back to the source” voyage following the successful conclusion of the search carried out by Mrs. Patricia Dagier and Mr. Clément Kirouac leading to the discovery of the K/ Breton ancestor and his birth place. In Huelgoat, the plaque stands at the entrance of an impressive geological attraction called "The Chaos" located in the village centre by the Lac d’Argent (Silver Lake). The plaque was cut from a blue granite slab extracted in Brennelis, Brittany, measuring 60cm X 40cm (24" X 16") with gold embedded lettering. - Huelgoat, Brittany - France

In homage to François-Urbain Le Bihan, Sieur de Kervoac, son of Royal Notary, François-Joachim Le Bihan, Sieur de Kervoac, and Catherine Bizien. Born in Huelgoat, he left for New France in 1721 and married Marie-Louise Bernier in 1732 in Cap Saint-Ignace, Quebec. He is the ancestor of all the North-American Kerouacs, Kirouacs and Kéroacks. Kerouac Commemorative Monument

In 1988, the Town of Lowell, Massachusetts, erected a memorial park in honour of the author Jack Kerouac. The life and work of Jack Kerouac is memorialized on several Minnesota pink granite monoliths on which captions from ten of the Beat writer's most famous works are carved into the stone. Designed by Ben Woitena from Houston, Texas, the park is located in Eastern Canal Park, at the intersection of Bridge and French, right in the center of the town.

History
On July 14, 1995, Mr. Nick Discepola, Member of Parliament for Vaudreuil County, unveiled this bronze memorial plaque at the Montreal Botanical Garden where it was erected by the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada.

Brother Marie-Victorin, f.é.c. (1885-1944)
Botanist, writer and educator, Brother Marie-Victorin was one of the key figures of the Canadian scientific movement of his time. He wrote the world acclaimed La flore laurentienne (Laurentian Flora), founded the Botanical Institute of the Université de Montréal and the Montreal Botanical Garden. The scientific world owes him several discoveries and innovative theories including a new approach to botany. As an educator he was years ahead of his time and greatly contributed to the improvement of school programmes from elementary to university. Jack-Kerouac Street
History
This two-part memorial is made of grey and black granite. The top part was unveiled on July 8, 2000, by Mr. Jean-Luc Fichet, Mayor of Lanmeur, Brittany, France, and by the Kerouac Family Association President, Mr. Clément Kirouac, from Candiac, Quebec. When 32 KFA members, going back to their sources, were touring Brittany, the Town of Lanmeur where the Kervoac land, cradle of the Kirouac family name, is located, unveiled this memorial plaque in honour of Jack Kerouac. The lower black granite plaque was added in the spring of 2002.

The origin of the name of this Franco-American writer who influenced the 20th century as well as that of all the North-American Kerouacs, comes from a place known as Kervoac (pronounced Kerouac), cradle of the Le Bihan family, their ancestors from Lanmeur.

Translation of the text
On March 6, 1736, Urbain François Le Bihan was buried here under the name of Alexandre Kéloaque. A native of Huelgoat, Brittany, he is the ancestor of all Keroacks, Kirouacs and Kerouacs of North America. Descended from a family of notaries, he migrated to New France between 1721 and 1726 and went into the fur trade business. In 1732, under the name of Maurice Louis Le Brice de Kervoach, he married Louise Bernier from Cap St-Ignace.
