ACCOMPLISHMENTS of the
Gosselin Family Association Inc.
1979 - 1999
1979 -
Reprint of the French edition of " FIGURES D' HIER ET D' AUJOURD' HUI À TRAVERS ST-LAURENT, ÎLE D'ORLÉANS", written by Canon David Gosselin in 1919. In 1979, 1540 copies were printed, and 1400 have now been sold. This re-edition will soon be sold out. This book of close City, and tells the story of many of the ancestor Gabriel Gosselin on Orleans Island and in Quebec French. Far from being just a list of names and dates, the book also contains many biographical notes and anecdotes on such and such, not to mention vivid descriptions of the local customs prevalent in those days. (English translation published in 1987).

Incorporation of the Association, under Part 3 of the Province of Quebec Companies Act.
1980 -
A group of over 25 Gosselins visited Combray (France) and witnessed the unveiling of a plaque in the local church. A meeting and dinner took place with the Gosselin cousins of France.
1981 -
Printing of a list of 1500 names and addresses of the correspondents of the Association.
1983 -
Publishing of an 80-page Souvenir Album: texts and photos of the large gathering of 1979 and of the public unveiling ceremony at Combray, France, in 1980.
1984 -
Receipt from the Public Archives (Canada) of the official coat-of-arms of the "Association des familles Gosselin Inc.". A color copy of this coat-of-arms (8½" x 11" size) was sent to all our members, free of charge.
1985 -
Reproduction of the coat-of-arms on a lapel button, and again one was sent to all our members, free of charge.
1986 -
Regional gathering of Gosselins in St-Cyprien-de-Rivière-du-Loup (Province of Quebec).
1987 -
In February, publication of "PORTRAITS OF YESTERDAY AND TODAY..." , English translation of the French book "Figures d'hier et d'aujourd'hui...". This translation and its publication were a response to the numerous requests from our English-speaking members.
From August 18 to 28, forty-three (43) cousins of France visited Orleans Island, Quebec City and Montreal, most of them related to the Gosselin family and members of the "Association des Amis des familles Gosselin du Canada". A family dinner took place on Sunday, August 23, together with our visitors, civil and religious authorities and the members of our Association who wished to join the party.

1988 -
Recruiting campaign.
1989 -
10th anniversary of the "Association des familles Gosselin".
On July 7, 8 and 9: regional gathering in Western Canada, in St-Malo (Manitoba), to commemorate the centennial of the arrival of Rémi Gosselin and Éléonore Vertefeuille.
October 14: In collaboration with the general Hospital of Quebec City, annual gathering of the Association to commemorate the tricentennial of the date when Gabriel Gosselin's daughter Geneviève (Sister Ste-Madeleine) joined the Augustine Nuns. Subsequently, she became the administrator of the Hôtel-Dieu of Quebec Hospital and, later, the founder of the General Hospital of Quebec City.
Publication of the first issue of the liaison bulletin of the Association.
1990 -
Annual gathering at the "MANOIR DES ÉRABLES", in Montmagny, owned by Renaud Cyr and Lorraine Gosselin-Cyr.
1991 -
Annual gathering at the "MAISON GOSSELIN", in Place Royale, Quebec City.
1992 -
Annual gathering in Montreal, during the festivities of the 350th anniversary of this city.
1993 -
Annual gathering in Lac Beauport (near Quebec city), with an exhibit of our collection of old and recent books written by Gosselin authors.
1994 -
Annual gathering at Laval University, and visit of the Pavillon Envirotron directed by Mr. André Gosselin, named Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture of this University one year later.
Two regional gatherings: Attleboro (Massachusetts), and Dieppe (New Brunswick).
1995 -
Annual gathering in Quebec City (restaurant LE PADDOCK, next to the Colisée de Québec). Gosselins who have excelled in sports were honored.
1996 -
Annual gathering in Rimouski, during the festivities of the 300th anniversary of this city. The third family to settle there was the family of Pierre Gosselin, the youngest son of our ancestor Gabriel.
Also, ordering of a new product: T-SHIRTS with the coat-of-arms of our Association.
1997 -
Trip to Normandy (France)
Regional U.S. gathering in New Orleans (Louisiana).
