1) HISTORY

The American Bisson Association was organized by a committee put in place on November 16, 1997.

A group of descendants of François-Philippe had worked out a project to establish an association that would reunite all the descendants with the name Bisson and envisioned a first gathering of all these people.

Letters were written and issued by he inspector general of the financial institution of Québec and dated November 17, 1998.

The first gathering of the Bisson's of America took place on August 15, 1998.

2) OUR PLEDGE

1. Regroup all the direct line descendants and associates of the Bisson, Buisson and St-Cosme ancestors;
2. Make known our family heritage by a better awareness of the people and their hard work;
3. Make known the history of those who bear this family name;
4. Preserve our family heritage;
5. Publish the journal 'L'Écho des Bisson';
6. Organize regional meetings and national assemblies;
7. Preserve in our archive all information and documents which relates to the history of our family;
8. Disseminate and maintain current our genealogy and history of the Bisson families;
9. Establish a service to assist in genealogy.

ASSISTANCE REQUESTED

All, member or not, who desire to assist, can become involved by:

• becoming part of the administrating council;
• participate by writing an article on genealogy, histories of a Bisson ancestor, on the customs of the times etc. ;
• collect documents, photos, cut out newspaper and others in order to construct the foundation and grow the archives and build a family history.
