2007 Annual Gathering at Quebec
Line
Hôtel Universel

The "Association des familles Berube Inc." held it's annual meeting at "Hôtel Universel" located at 2300, chemin Sainte-Foy, on September 8th and 9th, 2007. Almost 75 persons registered for this event.

Saturday afternoon, about thirty people visited three cultural museums dedicated to the Religious heritage of Quebec.

  • The Museum of the Augustines, established at Quebec since 1639, has gathered a rich collection of objects from the beginning of the colony and works from the XVIIth and XVIIIth century, some of which are unique in North America.
  • The Museum of the Ursulines, also established in 1639, holds a rich artistic collection and ethnographic which illustrate the day to day activities in the New-France and also the works of the first Ursulines.
  • The Museum Bon-Pasteur of the Sister of Bon-Pasteur, a community founded at Quebec in 1850, display a collection which bears witness to life in the XIXth century.

After the celebration of the mass at the church of Saint-Sacrement, the guests shared in a meal at "l'Hotel Universel". The Quebec region celebrating the 20th anniversary of it's founding took advantage of this occasion to pay homage to Robert (#0232) first president of this region from 1987 to 1997.

Inspired by Helene (#1029) and Andre (#1099), the Board of Directors of the Quebec region transformed itself into a choir and sang popular songs while accompanied by Andre Morasse, accordionist. Andre executed one of his composition: a new Berube song. Carried away by the get up and go of the sound of the accordion, guests took to the dance floor. Several prizes were distributed. The youngest of the group and the luckiest, Yvon (#1525), won a silk-screen printing of the painting Osmoser by Laurier, artist-painter (#0024).

Sunday morning, members attended the annual general meeting, they ratified the decision of the Board of Directors to adopt the Coat of Arms created and registered by Mr. Alfred Berube, who, following negotiations with the president, ceded his rights to the Association (see Tome II, pages 626-633). These Coats of Arms will be submitted to the Heraldic Authority of Canada and will become, eventually, officially the property of the Association.

Members re-elected Andre (#0043), Germaine (#0002), Marc (#0016) and elected Jeannine (#0522) as member to the Board of Directors. Everybody then took their place on the grand stairs of the hotel for the traditional family photo, followed by a brunch bringing to a close the year 2007 gathering.
