The BELANGER Kiosk 2001 at the open doors of the SHGIJ

Mr. Maurice Prévost, président of the historical and genealogical Society of Jesus' Island (City of Laval), Called upon the organizational talent of Fernand Bélanger to put up open doors, historical, patrimonial and genealogical 2001. for the week end of october 27-30 of Québec cultural week..

The cultural week of Québec was the ideal time for the historical and genealogical Society of Jesus Island to welcome the citizens of the city with the help of a free bus service by the City of Laval Transport Service.
An audio-visual presentation on 10 computers was shown to the visitors in a seperate room. Following this, the visitors walked through displays of historical and genealogical materials from 13:00 to 16:00 hours. It created much interest.

The ex-vice-president of the Société d'histoire et de généalogie de l'Île Jésus, Fernand Bélanger, CD, Laval resident, undertook to do the historical genealogy for the first Bélangers who came to settle in the Île Jésus .

He is looking after the historical facts pertaining to this migration (heritage, activities, roles and functions in the community), in the aim to embellish the genealogy of the two ancestors, François and Nicolas, the only immigrants in the Nouvelle-France who left descendants up till to-day.

Anybody interested in collaborating with his research work by supplying information pertaining to the families ( birth, christening, wedding, death and burial), the heritage (plots of land, estates, ownerships), the activities, the comings and goings, documents, photographs, illustrations, would have only to communicate with the researcher, whose coordinates are appearing hereafter, directly to him or through the Association.

You will find a text concerning the PRECURSOR of all the Bélanger in New France, as well as the list of all those who came to the colony in the heading "Les premiers Bélanger" in the AFBI web site, in the second section of the headings "Histoire des Bélanger".
