It also has on ongoing acquisition policy that allows it to acquire the latest available resources and tools making our library the second best in North America, after the LDS (Mormons) Therefore the Société is available to offer to anyone, members and non-members, a RESEARCH SERVICE, with a fee required. TYPES OF RESEARCH Direct lineage This research consists in finding the marriages of each generation, to the first ancestor who established his family in New France. It provides the names of the contracting partners, the date and place of the event and the name of the parish when available, as well as the names of the parents of both parties. Birth, Marriage, Death This information is usually taken from Church records and provides, when available, the names of the parents as well as the date and place of the event. It is important that the request includes basic information such as the parents'names and the religion of the person researched if other than Roman Catholic. Legal contracts, deeds and wills This type of research is mostly undertaken in registers of notaries who practised in the province of Quebec between 1640 and 1890. It is mandatory that such request contains as much information as possible to allow successful results. You must therefore give the names of the parties involved, the approximate date and place where the contract was signed and the type of document or event it covered in the case of deeds. RESEARCH FEES
