Genealogical Research - Known Documents - Transcribed Notarized Docs
Pierre Frigon (4) has made an inventory of notarized documents, both judicial and religious, using Parchemin and other sources.

The objective of this data collection is to put the documents concerning the Frigon families into chronological order in view of eventually writing a detailed history. This involves identifying and transcribing all the notarized documents relating to François Frigon dit Lespagnol, Marie-Claude Chamois and their children. Then, identifying all those documents relating to their descendants up until the 20th century, and transcribing them, if necessary.

Researchers interested in participating in the gathering of data and/or in the transcribing of documents are invited to communicate with Pierre Frigon (4) pfrigon@videotron.ca.

On May 30, 2001, the inventory consisted of 186 documents. For each of these documents, the Association database provides: the source, the location, the identification, the description and the condition of the transcription.

As an example of this, the following excerpt gives the date, source and description of the first notarized documents registered in the database. The dates under the notary's name indicate the years he practised as a notary. The description of the text is often taken directly from the transcription. Hence, we have decided to keep the same spelling, which is characteristic of the 17th and 18th centuries.
